I'm back, sorry about that......and a ring pouch.

So last week was a little bit nuts around here. I won't give you the whole run thru but it was long and full. I did manage to get a small but very special to me project done-ish. Someone (really someones) very special to me is getting married next week and he asked me to make him "something to put the rings in/on". Now this isn't a traditional wedding in EVERY sense of the word. There will be no ring bearer or flower girls and it's at the beach, just to name a couple of non-tradditional aspects. So I wanted something simple and beachy, that would look nice too. Did I mention this will be passed around the entire wedding? They are asking their friends and family to take a minute and wish happy thoughts on the rings. That's a cute idea, you do wear your ring every day, I know I could use happy thoughts now and then from people who love me. The point however, is that it's a lot of pressure to make something attractive.
After making 2 bags from fabric and tearing them apart while mumbling swear words under my breath, I took a totally different approach and decided to try crocheting it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.... OH, did I forget to mention that I tried hand embroidery too for the first time?! I sewed the patch with their initials and the date on loosely so that if it's actually ugly it can come off rather easily. You see, when you spend a rather ridiculous amount of time on a very small frustrating task, your ability to see it clearly is not always accurate.
So - my amazing, dear friend who could not deserve a life time full of happiness more, please feel free to tell me the truth..... that it's the ugliest thing you've ever seen. After all it is kind of ugly, but also know, I don't think I've ever made anything with more love.

  1. coming from that "certain somone" who you spent countless hours preparing this sweet little pouch for... I think it's absolutely perfect! I can already see that it's filled with more love than I could have ever imagined. Thank you so much!!!
